Aridd is forcing himself to take an extended and indefinite wikibreak. He needs to get on with work on his doctoral thesis, and, sadly, editing Wikipedia is too addictive and time-consuming. He shall return, one day. And when he does, he promises he shall cease to refer to himself in the third person, as he is doing now.
You can still leave a message for Aridd, but he is unlikely to reply in a timely fashion.

Misc. information about me:
I'm currently working on my doctoral thesis, on "Britishness" and the development of national identity in Commonwealth countries in Oceania.
I am the author of a published research article entited "Les communautés d'Îliens du Pacifique en Nouvelle-Zélande : Intégration et identité culturelle" (in GERMAIN, Lucienne & LASSALLE, Didier (eds.), Communauté(s), communautarisme(s) : aspects comparatifs, Paris: L'Harmattan, 2008, ISBN 978-2-296-05366-3 [1] [2]).
I contribute more to the French Wikipedia, where there is a relative lack of articles on Pacific countries (there are many important things to add regarding Australia and Fiji, for example).
An article that I created in the English Wikipedia has been mentioned and linked to by a major French newspaper.
In addition to various edits, in the English Wikipedia I've started the following articles:
I've also filled in the article on my home town, and created the "Relations in Oceania" section in the article "Foreign relations of Cuba", and the "Relations with the Pacific" section in the article "Foreign relations of Australia". I've added sections to a few other articles, such as the section on the 'Ice Curtain' border in the article on the Bering Strait, the section on Henry Reynolds' role in the Mabo judgement, the section on Aboriginal resistance in Australia, 1788-1850... I've contributed significantly to the article on the 2008 Summer Olympics torch relay; the section on media coverage, in particular, is almost entirely my work. I've updated and completed various articles, mainly relating to Oceania (such as Pacific Solution, Stolen Generations...). Most of the article on Miguel D'Escoto is by me.
Things to do
Create the following articles:
- Australia-Solomon Islands relations
- Australia-Fiji relations
- 2006 riots in the Solomon Islands

Random comment: What a wonderful place is Wikipedia, where you can find encyclopediae in Latin, Tok Pisin, Klingon (until recently), and Scots!
