[edit] Split
Can someone please cite the original research on which the split is based? Thanks. Dysmorodrepanis 02:25, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe. According to the AOU's 42nd supplement, it involved LIGON, J. D. 1968. Observations on Strickland’s Woodpecker, Dendrocopos stricklandi. Condor 70: 83–84. They also cite JOHNSON, R. R., L. T. HAIGHT, AND J. D. LIGON. 1999. Strickland’s Woodpecker (Picoides stricklandi). In The birds of North America, no. 474 (A. Poole and F. Gill, Eds.). Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia, and American Ornithologists’ Union, Washington, D. C. If you have access to that. Hm, Ligon both times—maybe the 1968 paper is the original research. —JerryFriedman 22:58, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
