Arizona Lottery

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Arizona Lottery is run by the state of Arizona. It is a member of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL). Its games include Powerball, Pick 5, and Pick 3. As a MUSL member, Arizona is eligible to offer its other games as well. However, MUSL's secondary game, Hot Lotto, is unlikely to add Arizona in the near future, as the in-state jackpot game The Pick recently was changed. Arizona requires lottery players to be 21; the minimum age was 18, until June 1, 2003.

The Arizona Lottery is also unique because every few years voters can determine whether the state lottery can still operate. In 2002, the majority of voters supported Proposition 301, which allowed the state lottery to operate until July 1, 2012, and pay winning ticket holders through January 1, 2013. A similar proposition will appear again in the 2011 general election that will ask the voters again whether to continue the lottery.
