[edit] Biography

Linovski is affiliated with the Communication and Culture program at York University in Toronto and has recently given lectures at international conferences at Queen's University, Belfast[1] and at the University of Oxford[2].

Linovski is mostly concerned with the politics of identity and constructions of national identity in government and mainstream media discourse. The theoretical background of her work comes out of a Post-Structuralist and Post-Colonialist framework, often citing the work of scholars such as Judith Butler and Michel Foucault.

Linovski maintains a blog entitled "inappropriate musings on Jewish identity" where she mostly expresses her personal experiences in being Jewish and often presents a critique of the State of Israel for its discriminatory policies towards Palestinian Israelis.

Before becoming interested in politics, Linovski enjoyed a successful career as a pop singer, winning many awards for her debut LP "I Like to Sing" released in 1995.[citation needed]
