Aria Nightclub

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aria Nightclub was an afterhours club located in Montreal, Canada which featured techno, trance and house music in one room (referred to as the "main room") and also hip hop, rap and R&B (the "urban room"). The nightclub was typically known for its main room among the community.

As of December 23rd, 2006, the club has officially closed due to declining popularity (partly due to historical events of violence [1]) and competition from new nightclubs. Official press releases [2] were made by the resident DJs on various Internet forums citing its closure. A closing party was held on the final night to commemorate its 5 years of existence.

A lot of world-renowned DJs, such as Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren, Lee Burridge, Richie Hawtin, Infected Mushroom, Deep Dish, Christopher Lawrence, Mauro Picotto, Jeff Mills, Junkie XL, Carl Cox and DJ Tiësto (just to name a few) have played at Aria more than once. The nightclub featured several local residents, the latter active ones (when the nightclub shut down) were Creator, DJ Kal, G'Obrien, Marco G, Maüs, Miguel Graça, Mini and Nick Pilon. Its past residents included Preach, Mateo Murphy, King Louis and Yaz among others.

Aria has since been replaced by a new establishment (managed by the same owner) called La Mouche Nightclub. It is located on 1280 St-Denis, corner St-Catherine.
