Aria C Jalali is a San Francisco-based solo indie musician, originally from Los Angeles, California. His music is considered Art Rock or indie.[1] After signing to Filthy Little Angels records in 2006 [2], Aria gained notoriety for the fact that his music is self produced.[3][4] Generally, his songs consist of full rock music instrumentation, with influences of new wave music heard in his use of synthesizers and art rock heard in his diverse set of instruments, including but not limited to the sitar, dulcimer, mandolin, glockenspiel, lute, and accordion.[5] However, all instruments on his recordings are played by himself. When performing live, his act expands to a four -person operation, with Aria singing and playing various instruments, predominantly guitar. Biljana Mirkovski plays guitar, Shaw Waters plays bass, and Dasha Bulatova plays keyboards and glockenspiel, according to a recent bulletin posted on the band's myspace. His music is described as having, "pastel-coloured vocals suitbly warped, but with a low-cut frenetic backdrop surrounding them."[6] His lyrics are generally described as being vague or ambiguous, which are often found in front of vibrant, major scale riff-based melodies.

Aria Jalali has been the subject of many blog articles and links, often citing the fact that he is a "one-man band." ThisisFakeDIY.com, a notable UK indie music site, said that Jalali is "what the 2.0 generation is capable of without the need for big budget major label support and the restriction of a closed mind."[7][6]

Note: the name "Aria C Jalali!" was the former name of the band. In March 2008, the band changed its name to "Railcars". The band still includes Jalali, Bulatova, Mirkovski, and Waters, but is now known as Railcars instead of Aria C Jalali!, according to a blog Jalali posted on the band's myspace.

Jalali is currently at work on his first full-length album, Cities and Submarines. It has been rumored to release in the summer of 2008, following the release of a "Cities" EP.
