Argyros (Greek: άργυρος) is Greek for silver. It was the name of a prominent Eastern Roman family (also referred to as Argyrus in Western scholarship). They produced one Emperor, Romanos III, as well as other notables, including Pothos Argyros, Catepan of Italy.
Notable people with the surname Argyros:
- George Argyros (born 1937), Greek-American ambassador and businessman
- Billy Argyros, Greek-Australian professional poker player
The name can also refer to the fictional character Basil Argyros.
Argyros was also in use as a first name, and as such it was born, among others, by Argyrus, a Lombard warrior who also served as Catepan of Italy.
