The result of the proposal was restore the title "Arendsee (lake)", per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 14:47, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
This lake is so non-notable that I doubt any English name exists. In this case, I suppose the local name should be preferred over some made-up translation via WP:MOSPN.
- google scholar hits for "Arendsee saxony": 23 [1], although only about five seem to refer to the lake.

- Incorrect. As per wiki guidelines, the name should be in English. It even refers to the name in the article. More information can be found here, where it states It is Wikipedia convention to emphasize alternate names at first use, normally in the first line. It is customary to bold the article title name, and its frequently used English language synonyms, and to italicize foreign or historic names represented in Roman script On a side note, there is not such resistance from Spanish or Italian users to have lake names under "Lago" - because proper translation is to "Lake" Rarelibra (talk) 15:35, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

- Rarelibra, yes, names should be in English. But that doesn't mean names should contain a maximum of English native morphological material. It means names should follow what is most commonly done in careful English writing. Wherever a majority of English speakers chooses to borrow a foreign name form in their own usage, that name form becomes the English name. And please, everybody stop repeating their arguments dozens of times under each heading. :-( Fut.Perf. ☼ 15:53, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

- Support. We can't just make up place names. We could add a literal translation at the beginning of the text though. -- User:Docu
