Talk:Area codes in Germany
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] It has been suggested that this article be split into multiple articles
- No. AT this page is now, someone wanting a particular place in Germany can call his browser's search-within-page function to find it. Not if he has to ferret through several pages. Anthony Appleyard 05:56, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- he can 1) go to the page of that place instead, or if article is splitted 2) go to the page of that area-code-region, determined by first digit. No need to go to several pages. NoGringo 01:56, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
- No. I like being able to search within the page to find locations. —Psychonaut 13:31, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yes This is one of the longest pages on Wikipedia, and no article should be this large. I will split it up in 1 week P.Shack 16:52, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

- I'd advise you not to do that as there is not yet a consensus that the article should be split up. —Psychonaut 18:37, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- Is there really a need for consensus when it clearly is way too long? P.Shack 18:52, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- Clearly there is, since two people already disagree with your claim that the article is "too long". —Psychonaut 22:48, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

- Yes If it isn't split, than it at least needs to be cleaned up. Calling rates are not encyclopedic. Also, the reasons given above to not split violate policy, see WP:NOT#DIRECTORY. This page is not here to help you find a phone number. --Holderca1 16:25, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- NoThis page is not here to help you find a phone number. Why not? The aim of an Encyclopedia is t ogive informations and area codes are often vital infos.--Tresckow 10:05, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

- Please finish reading my comment, obviously you didn't get to this part: WP:NOT#DIRECTORY. --Holderca1 15:18, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- No. There's a difference between a directory (comprehensive listings) and information about a directory (ie, area codes, organization of the directory). This pages is unlikely to be read or browsed; search function should be maintained.VaLynn 14:35, 25 December 2006 (UTC)VaLynn
- Split or Delete This article contains a messy, overly large and frankly (in my opinion, as goes with all of this message) very boring and uninteresting article. I do not think anyone would independantly search for this article, and, even if they did, who would actually be interested enough to read it? Wikipedia is not a directory or a phonebook, it is an encyclopedia. In truth, I think the article should be deleted. While it is true someone would have put in many hard hours of work into this, it simply does not meet many of wikipedias policies, including the MoS or the aforementioned WP:NOT#DIRECTORY. Personally, I think deletion is the best move, but if this will not happen, then at least split it up. --- ÅñôñÿMôús Dîššíd3nt 06:39, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
