Arenig railway station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Arenig railway station was a railway station on the Great Western Railway's Bala Ffestiniog Line in Wales. It closed to passenger services on 2 January 1960 and freight services on 27 January 1961.
The site was taken over by the adjacent quarry after closure and the platforms and station buildings survived in a derelict state until the early 1980s. Although no trace of the platforms and buildings now remain, the site can be identified by pillars still in-situ, which were used for supporting conveyor belts running from the quarry to the station.
