[edit] General info
Arelith is a game module designed for Neverwinter Nights (NwN) multiplayer. The Arelith server is one of the most popular of the persistent worlds, and has been featured in an interview by Bioware.[1].
The server is based on the Forgotten Realms universe that many Dungeons & Dragons games adhere to. The server itself is noted[2] for the server's development teams refusal to allow hak-paks and unofficial modifications in an attempt to make Arelith as accessible as possible, instead choosing to use only the original NWN content, expansions (SoU and HotU), and official updates from Bioware.
Arelith utilizes a modified version of the GIGASCHATTEN persistent world engine (gspwe) maintained and improved by Mithreas which allows for a number of remarkable game features, and has a rich and varied visual appearance in areas courtesy of graphics arts designer Artos13. Generally viewed as a hardcore role play server with rules and policies stringently enforced by the owner Jeremy Martin (Jjjerm) and the DM staff, Arelith has evolved from a general action server into it's current incarnation as a dedicated role play server over the course of Five years, and still growing. Another popular server, Amia, was born in a split off from Arelith around three years from conception and is also one of the most popular servers of its type.
Arelith covers a large portion of the Forgotten Realms 3.0 and 3.5 universe, and has implemented a complete, fully-functional Underdark. The server attempts to balance the surface world and the Underdark, allowing players to play many roles in the world. Supported subraces include: Drow, Goblins, Kobolds, Orog, Duergar, Svirfneblin, Aasimar, Tiefling, Fey, and numerous other races.
Current Development has split the server (listed on Gamespy as Arelith Surface and Arelith Underdark) between two server boxes, each with a capacity to host Seventy-five players (One hundred and fifty players total), which are connected and using shared resources.

- ^ Neverwinter Nights: BioWare Wednesday Archive
- ^ Artos13: As Jeremy said, hakpaks can be quite an inconvenience to new players looking for a server. Don't get me wrong, there's some excellent custom content out there available, but I like it that Arelith is ready to go without any further downloads.
