[edit] Biography
I am a Lecturer in Bioinformatics at the University of Oxford. Before moving to Oxford in 2005 I was Lecturer in Bioinformatics at the University of Exeter. My research interests are in Systems Biology, Molecular Dynamics of Prion Disease, Statistical Learning, Expert Systems and Stochastic Modelling.
My first degree was in Chemistry and Law and my PhD was in Protein Crystallography and Molecular Modelling. I have held positions as lecturer in departments of Biology, Computer Science and currently Statistics.
As well as my science research I am also interested in Education and in particular e-learning. I have considerable experience in developing and delivering courses in online learning and I have a firm belief that as an academic you cannot separate the teaching and research aspects of your job. Teaching should use informed best practice, and lecturers should always be aware of developments within education.
