Arden Middle School is a public middle school located in Sacramento, California, United States of America. It is a part of the San Juan Unified School District with a student body of approximately 750 students. Its students mainly feed into Rio Americano High School, although a significant number feed into El Camino, Mira Loma, and Jesuit.
Most students attending Arden Middle School come from the elementary schools of Del Dayo, Mariemont and Sierra Oaks. Electives offered for the 2007-2008 school year include Band, Exploration, Media Technology, Art, Spanish, AVID and Choir/Drama.

Arden is well-known for its high Academic Performance Index scores in its district. It had a score of 888 last year,[when?] ranking the school as 9 of 10 in the state.[citation needed]

Arden is one of only two schools in the district to have a chess club.[1]
[edit] Science Olympiad
Arden has a very renowned Science Olympiad Team.[2] It has won 12 regional titles, and has won the state competition 5 times of the last 6 years. In 2001[3] and 2002 Arden was Northern California State champion in the Science Olympiad.[4] They won at the State level again in 2004[5] and 2005.[6] In 2006, Arden placed 4th in the national competition[7] after winning at the State level;[8] in 2007, Arden again won first place in the Northern California Middle School division[9] and placed 8th in the national competition, winning two gold medals.[10] In 2008, they placed first in the regional competition and are now moving on to the Northern California State Science Olympiad.

Arden placed 3rd at the 2007 Sacramento chapter MathCounts competition.

In 1997 Arden Middle School music program found success, winning the middle school division of the Sonoma Jazz Festival and the Folsom Jazz Festival.[11]

Tyler Reid received the Braveheart plaque in 2004 for using the Heimlich maneuver to save a fellow student.[12]
