Great initiative! How about adding lines giving info about who is conducting the ongoing excavations (if there are) and who conducted past excavations (if there were any).

To give an example, for Aphrodisias, that would be,

Current excavations: Professor Christopher Ratté (NYU) and Professor R.R.R.Smith (Oxford University)

Past excavations: Professor Kenan Erim, New York University (1962-1990)
Paul Gaudin, French railroads (1904-1905)
