Talk:Archie Gemmill
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Anyone want to clean up the international carreer? It reads like it was written by an illiterate chimp. 81.158.225.26
OK, I added the clean up bit based on the previous (pre- the 'removing rant') edit of Omicronpersei8 - my reason for requesting the dit was that it was a bit unsightly having all the references in the middle of the text; I felt these need to be in the proper format (and as I don't have the skills to do this I thought I'd flag it for someone more able!)
Re. the previous bit - I quite enjoyed the rant - it certainly gave context to Gemmill's career, so I am all for having that back. Ianguy 09:05, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- To copy from my user talk page: I agree that there is some useful content here, and the "rant" label was just a quick and short-sighted explanation for my edit (which probably stemmed from what I thought was a loaded statement, "... famous for scoring one famous goal ... In fact the goal is so famous that it completely overshadows that which within others would be celebrated"). I still feel it looks more like a commentary or sports article than what is expected of an enyclopedia. If the editor comes back and fixes it, I'll be happy to go along with it. -- Omicronpersei8 09:15, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
I think this article is great. It shows the symbolic power upon Scottish cultural life that Archie Gemmill was.

[edit] YouTube links
This article is one of thousands on Wikipedia that have a link to YouTube in it. Based on the External links policy, most of these should probably be removed. I'm putting this message here, on this talk page, to request the regular editors take a look at the link and make sure it doesn't violate policy. In short: 1. 99% of the time YouTube should not be used as a source. 2. We must not link to material that violates someones copyright. If you are not sure if the link on this article should be removed or you would like to help spread this message contact us on this page. Thanks, ---J.S (t|c) 06:18, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
