[edit] Archibald Bulloch or George Walton First Governor of Georgia?
In the box at the bottom of the article it mentions that Archibald Bulloch was Governor of Georgia from 1776-1777 and that George Walton preceded him. Is this correct? First, Bulloch was President and Commander-in-Chief from 1776-1777 when, upon signing the state constitution on February 20, 1777, he was made Governor -- as stated in the article. Secondly, in regard to George Walton, his article states that he was governor in 1779. Can someone verify which really came first? Reb 13:14, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- Edited the article in light of information from articles on Archibald Bulloch and George Walton at the New Georgia Encyclopedia which confirms that Walton was elected governor after Bulloch, though Walton did become President of the Council of Safety prior to Bulloch's becoming President and then Governor of the State.
