Description

Russian Orthodox icon, Synaxis of Archangel Michael. Tempera and gold leaf on wood. The seven archangels of Orthodox Christian tradition are represented. Michael is in the center, behind the circular mandorla of Christ. Gabriel and Raphael stand in front to the left and right respectively. Behind them from left to right are Jegudiel, Selaphiel, Uriel, and Barachiel.
