Gothic 4: Arcania is the fourth installment of the Gothic series, and the first one to be developed by another company than Piranha Bytes; the game will be developed by Spellbound.[1] This game is expected to be released in 2010.[citation needed]

The start of the development was officially announced on August 23, 2007, along with the name of the new developer.[1] Originally, the project was entitled Gothic 4: Genesis, the name changing to Gothic 4: Arcania, during the development; this change was announced for the first time in 2008.[2][3]
