Arctic Sea Flotilla (ASF) (Флотилия Северного Ледовитого океана in Russian, or Flotiliya Severnogo Ledovitogo okeana), Russian military flotilla that was stationed in Murmansk and Iokanga.
In September of 1916, the Russians began to form ASF out of ships, which had been transferred from Vladivostok or acquired abroad. It included 1 battleship, 2 cruisers, 6 destroyers, 2 submarines and other ships. ASF secured allied shipments of weapons and cargo, intended for the Russian army, fleet and defense factories.
After Russia's withdrawal from World War I, the flotilla comprised approximately 90 combatant and auxiliary ships. In August of 1918, the best ships of the ASF were captured by the interventionists and the White Army. The rest of the ships were intentionally put out of commission or destroyed.
