Archibald Bower

Archibald Bower (January 17, 1686 - September 3, 1766), was a Scottish historian.

He was born at Dundee, and educated at the Scots College, Douai, became a Jesuit, but afterwards joined the Church of England, and again became a Jesuit. He wrote a History of Rome (1735-44), a History of the Popes (1748-66).
