From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Archdiocese of Santiago de Compostela, established by Pope Calixtus II in 1120, is one of the five districts in which the Catholic Church divides Galicia in North-western Spain.

The Archbishop of Santiago of Compostela has "cathedra" (i.e.: from Latin "seat") in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, and his jurisdiction covers most of the parishes the central part of Galicia including the cities of A Coruña and Pontevedra.
