From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Archdiocese of Ravenna is a diocese in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The archdiocese was erected in the first century as a diocese, and was elevated to an archdiocese in the fifth century.[1] Among its famous archbishops are Saint Peter Chrysologus, a Doctor of the Church, and Blessed Guido Maria Conforti. See Bishop of Ravenna for an incomplete list.
In 1947 the archdiocese was merged with the Diocese of Cervia into the Archdiocese of Ravenna-Cervia.[2]
