Archbishop Vavila
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vavila was a vladika (prince-bishop) of Montenegro. Vavila was the vladika of Montenegro from 1493 - 1520. In 1516, the secular prince of Zeta/Montenegro, Đurađ V Crnojević of the House of Crnojević, who ruled Zeta/Montenegro from 1435 - 1516, abdicated in favor of Vavila. After the abdication, Vavil turned Montenegro into a theocratic state ruled under the vladika (or prince-bishop) of Cetinje. Vavila's rule as vladika ended in 1520, when German II became vladika.
