Archbishop Carney Secondary School (ACRSS) is a Roman Catholic secondary school secondary school in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. It is under charge of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver and is the newest Roman Catholic high school in the Lower Mainland with 750 students as of September 2007.

Archbishop Carney Regional Secondary School is centered in Christ. This school's primary commitment is to educate students in a Catholic environment, to challenge them to excel in all virtous aspects of life, and to encourage them to use their gifts in the service of the community.

Archbishop Carney Secondary strives to make this mission statement integral to all that they do by pursuing a number of goals including: to promote in their pupils a strong set of Catholic values, to encourage an awareness of God and an appreciation of the responsibilities as Christians, to develop the spiritual, moral, physical, and intellectual well being of young people, to offer education of the highest quality, to help prepare for adult life, to nuture awareness of our social responsibilities, to support parents, and for parents to support teachers, in the education of their children, to cultivate creativity, to encourage physical activity, and to further their pupil's interest in and knowledge of their cultural inheritance and engender a respect for other cultures.

The Christian Education program at Archbishop Carney Secondary School is designed to foster growth in the student's faith, in the knowledge of their faith, and in the understanding of themselves as Christian people. The program strives to do this in a variety of ways.
[edit] Religious Education Classes
Participation in the Religious Education Classes is an integral and vital part of the education and formation of each student in the school. It helps lead them to study and learn the history and content of the Catholic Faith. The objective remains to create in them a deep and life-long love for the Church, its Sacraments and prayer life.

The importance of the Mass is recognized at Archbishop Carney both as a way of increasing the Faith of the individual and helping in the building of Christian community. Each month, the school has a mass that is celebrated in the school gym by the priests around the region.

The following are the hours that should be spent by each student engaged in homework.
- Grade 8 and 9: 1 hour minimum for 5 nights a week.
- Grade 10: 1.5 hours minimum for 5 nights a week.
- Grade 11 and 12: 2 to 2.5 hours minimum for 5 nights a week.

Report Cards will be issued four times a year: November, February, April, and June. A comment is required to accompany a failing grade. The following is the grading system based on an average of all the students courses.
- Principle Honours: 90-100 percentile
- First Honours: 80-89 percentile
- Second Honours:73-79 percentile
Formerly, Archbishop Carney used the Grade Point Average system ranging from 0.00 to 4.00.
[edit] Student Life - Extra-Curricular Activities
[edit] Student Council (Starliament)
"Starliament has the responsibility to represent the interests of the student body of Archbishop Carney. They organize student activities, represents the student body to the community, promote school spirit, liaison with the staff, and promote the philosophy of the school." ~ Starliament Constitution 1999.
[edit] The Production Crew
The Production Crew is responsible for the setup of the school's sound, lighting, and video equipment. Such events they work at are the monthly school masses, concerts and talent shows.

Carney boasts an excellent music program. Recently, the Sr. Concert Band, Jazz Band I, and Sr. Concert Choir traveled to Montreal in order to compete in the Heritage Music Festival. Sr. Concert Band achieved a Silver award, with a score of 96 in one of its pieces. Jazz Band I achieved a Silver award, and Sr. Concert Choir proudly brought home a Gold award.

Archbishop Carney athletics is a big part of the school community. The school has teams in the following sports:
- Basketball
- Soccer
- Swim
- Volleyball
Carney's basketball program has struggled but is beginning to show growth in the young grades as of 2007. Carney's Soccer program has been very successful. The Soccer Boys teams have won numerous Fraser Valley banners and have placed as high as 2nd in the Province. The Girls team, under the coaching of Chris Bennett, has won numerous Fraser Valley titles and BC Catholic championships, also placing as high as 2nd in the province. Carney athletics are also very strong in Volleyball.

Counseling at Archbishop Carney is designed to:
- help students be successful in school
- help with program and course selection
- provide information regarding post-secondary education and careers
- provide liaison between students, parents, teachers and administrators
- help students understand and deal with personal and social problems
- provide support in crisis situations
- make referrals to specialized resources in the school or community
The director of Counselling Services is Jerome Francis.
