Please don't make unhelpful comments on the arbitration workshop for ferrylodge, especially as a sockpuppet. It's really unhelpful and disruptive. SWATJester Son of the Defender 18:02, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Clients of Scott Boras

You proposed Clients of Scott Boras for deletion. Another editor has asked for the article to be restored, so I have restored it and listed it for AfD. [edit] Stoning

The requirement of proper courts is interpretation, there is nothing in the Old Testament that allows non-compliance with its commandments just because there aren't courts to adjudicate the effects of such non-compliance. If you feel otherwise, can you show me where in the OT that qualification exists. And if it does exist why should any Jew observe any commandment when failure to do so can have no effect until some court is set up to deal with the transgression. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 19:26, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

  • That concept is inherent in Christianity as well, where it is believed that God knows the sins of all and in some branches he may accept the sinners' penance where in others absolution comes from confession to a human priest and an act of contrition. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 19:45, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
    • So you've read my user page - one never knows. My boyfriend is Jewish. His parents are holocaust survivors from France. As I have gotten to know him and his family, some interest in the culture and history rubs off. I am a history/ancient culture buff to start with - you can probably figure that out by my contributions - so that was a natural interest. I have been somewhat surprised at the strength of bigotry at WP. Perhaps I shouldn't have been, but WP is a safe haven for anti-Semitic and anti-Kurdish and anti-Gay feelings, in particular, to be expressed. That saddens me and I want to help be an agent of change to reduce that. The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single footstep... Carlossuarez46 (talk) 20:42, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Ella Guru

I've contested the speedy deletion you requested for Ella Guru (band). It seems to me that the article does assert some borderline notability for the band, and the article has a two-year history of editing. If you disagree, feel free to add the article to WP:AFD as I believe this warrants further discussion, not speedy deletion. --Canley (talk) 01:10, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Jerome Kerviel

Thank you for removing the anti-semitic comments off of Talk:Jérôme Kerviel, but I'd hope you'd assume a bit more good faith. I was not at all intending to engage in "feeding of the trolling", but was simply assuming good faith on the part of the IP and answering it honestly. Granted, the repeat comments clearly marked it as trolling, but there was no way to know if the initial question was trolling because it simply asked if the subject of the article was Jewish. [edit] Mona

Regarding this edit of yours (with the odd edit summary, "ekf") links to disambiguation pages should always end in "(disambiguation)" per Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Links to disambiguation pages. —Joe Llywelyn Griffith Blakesley talk contrib 04:50, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

ya well I'm odd that way. actually, the edit summary was supposed to be "wkf" and the title of the dab is MoNA, not MoNA (disambiguation) -- Y not be working? 14:39, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Thank you kindly for your efforts in thoughtfully pointing out to me the relevant policies. I will make sure that from this day forward I link to disambiguation pages correctly. [edit] Pigua pics

Hi,

I got the pics of the pigua from flickr, here. I contacted the uploader, and asked him if he could license the pics to us. I included the Wikipedia:Boilerplate request for permission#Declaration of consent for all enquiries, and I also mentioned that another method to allow us to use the pictures would be to change their copyright status on Flickr.

The reply I received, and fowarded to ORTS (ticket 2008030810012872), was as follows: "You can use them with this mention : (S. Meshi – ZAKA)." Thats it.

It seems that the people OTRS would like more than that (I think rightfully so), so I wrote back to the Flickr user, and until now, I haven't heard anything. Meanwhile, two different OTRS respondents who I have emailed with have not deleted the pictures, but they also did not confirm that the licensing is on file.

I think there might be a language issue - all of the captions are in French. My French is quite poor, so I started my original message with a sentence in French apologizing for writing in English, and then wrote in English. Perhaps the Declaration of consent for all enquiries was a bit too much.

I don't know what will happen if the uploader never writes back. I hope the pictures don't get deleted, especially since he did give permission, just not too clearly. Hopefully this will resolve itself soon with a reply from the photographer.

[edit] "Personal attack"

It is not a "personal attack" to comment on the editorial behaviour of another user. User:Blnguyen routinely reverts on that and related pages without discussion and - seemingly - without even bothering to read through edits when he thinks they are different to his political views. This behaviour is highly disruptive to the integrity of these pages. --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 01:29, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Deaths in 2008

An editor has nominated Deaths in 2008, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Deaths in 2008 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 18:01, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Dorothy Ruth

I wrote the following at the AfD for Dorothy Ruth. Worldcat says the book is in at least 200 libraries in the United States. That probably makes it notable. See Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Creative_professionals, which includes the criterion "... had works in many significant libraries." --Eastmain (talk) 01:32, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Cup of Coffee

Regarding this edit summary [1], your ask "what is this cup of coffee" (wikilink added). I am not suggesting to revert, just a good faith fyi (if you didn't know) - Mitico (talk) 13:40, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

OIC... Despite being a major baseball fan, I had never heard of that before. In any event, I won't self-revert, since this piece of slang was not adding anything to the article. -- Y not be working? 21:02, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
