Aranthodu (ಅರಂತೋಡು), is a village located 12 km south to Sullia town towards Madikeri and Mysore. The village is surrounded with rich water sources which, in fact, prompted for its name. 'Aranthodu', is derived from 'aaru thodu' in Kannada, means six water canals. The river Payaswini flows through this village. This is one of the progressive villages in Sullia taluk. The village livelihood mainly depends on agriculture/horticulture. Its geographical situation makes it as a junction to deviate towards the regional holy shrine, Thodikana.
