Ar-O2
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ar-O2 is an Argon-Oxygen blend gas used in gas metal arc welding as a shielding gas. It has 2% volume of Oxygen in an Argon matrix (Ar-O2). It is primarily used in mixture. The addition of 2% oxygen encourages spray transfer, which is critical for spray-arc and pulsed spray-arc GMAW. However, more than 5% oxygen makes the shielding gas oxidize the electrode, which can lead to porosity in the deposit if the electrode does not contain sufficient deoxidizers.
