[edit] Evolution or selection?
I know it's customary to refer to SELEX as "evolutionary." But wouldn't it be more correct to compare it to natural selection? Evolution is change over time. Natural selection is the mechanism for evolution, and natural selection consists of iterative rounds of selections, like SELEX, I gather. I think the references to evolution are misleading for those who either don't already know how SELEX works or for those who are uncertain of the difference between evolution and natural selection. Or both, which unfortunately is a lot of people. I'd like to remove the word evolution from the article. I came because I am writing briefly about aptamers and needed to know more about them. So thanks for the article! It is very useful. Eperotao 21:11, 7 April 2007 (UTC) I actually just removed it in one place, the first line, because I thought the other uses were correct. I made some other minor correx, a bit more than minor edits. There's a slight flavor of boosterism to this article. I'd recommend toning down the references to specific labs and companies, since others are now working on aptamers. Cheers, Eperotao 21:23, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
