April 5: 1242 – Northern Crusades: In the Battle of the Ice, Novgorod forces led by Alexander Nevsky rebuffed an invasion attempt by the Teutonic Knights at Lake Peipus on the present-day border of Estonia and Russia. 1614 – Native American Pocahontas (pictured) married English colonist John Rolfe in Virginia, and was christened Lady Rebecca. 1847 – Britain's first civic public park, Birkenhead Park in Birkenhead, Merseyside, England, opened. 1976 – The Tiananmen Incident, a protest against the repression of the Chinese regime nearing the end of the Cultural Revolution, took place in Tiananmen Square in Beijing. 1998 – Japan's Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge, linking Awaji Island and Kobe, opened to traffic, becoming the longest suspension bridge in the world to date with a main span length of 1,991 metres (6,532 ft). Question the André Augestad entry. No Google matches. Causeur doesn't translate either; There is exactly one occurrence of the word in wikipedia, so it is easy to guess the meaning from the context, as conversationalist who sparks lively discussion; but there is nothing explicit about the word, currently. While perhaps its importance may be disputed, April 5, 2063 is the date of First Contact in Star Trek. Interesting bits of trivia are some of the best things you find in encyclopediae, and this entry's not exactly stimulating anyway. Just a thought. ;) 68.102.179.135 02:29, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

I welcome your thoughts on the following. I removed this entry as not significant: "*2001 - Lisa Fowler was revealed as the would be assassin in the EastEnders storyline Who Shot Phil". I do not believe fictional details of plot lines from TV shows is notable for the events section. Any thoughts? Thanks, Hu Gadarn 15:48, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Ok, I'm European and know nothing about NBA, but David Crowley doesn't look 15.. and a 15-year old in the hall of fame sounds strange to me... --130.89.189.208 23:43, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I can't find anything at all about his being in the NBA. I also can't find anything about his year of birth. I suggest either that somebody fix this link or that it be removed. Williw 00:50, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Could anybody tell me why my note that 5th April is the start of the tax year in the UK has been removed? It's pretty important, I would've thought?....Martyn Smith (talk) 20:49, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

There are three reasons that your entry was removed. The first is that it did not link to a supporting article. Second, it was created under a new heading and new headings must be discussed before they are added. Third is that (since it wasn't linked) it was impossible to discern from the listing that it was a date of significance to everyone in the UK.
