- Terrorism in Kashmir: A group of about six to ten heavily-armed Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists mount a carnage in Kulhand village in Doda District, Jammu and Kashmir pulling out villagers from their homes and shooting them. 22-35 people died in the bloodiest massacre in Jammu and Kashmir in 3 years with one of them being a 6-year-old child. A dozen others were wounded. All the victims belonged to Hindu community. (Hindustan Times) (NDTV.com)

- After an almost five-month lull in hostilities, militants set off a series of grenade explosions at some of the busiest points in Srinagar, killing five persons, including two women and injuring 30. The first five blasts, which occurred within a span of less than an hour starting just before noon prayers triggered panic across the city. People fled indoors as heavily armed security forces trooped in. The blasts resumed in the evening, with the sixth grenade attack on a police patrol at Sakidafar leaving five more civilians and five policemen injured. (Reuters) (DNA)
