Appleton East High School is a comprehensive secondary school located in Appleton, Wisconsin. It is part of the Appleton Area School District. Appleton East is one of three public four-year high schools in Appleton and is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and by the Wisconsin Department of Public Education. As of 2005, enrollment is approximately 1,510. Like most Wisconsin schools, the calendar consists of two 18-week semesters. They are in the Fox Valley Association conference, which consists of teams from Menasha, Neenah, Fond du Lac, Oshkosh, and other surrounding cities.

[edit] First Robotics
Appleton East is home to NEW Apple Corps Robotics (FIRST Robotics Team 93). The team is made up of students from Appleton East High School, Appleton North High School and Appleton West High School. Any student from an Appleton Area School District high school or charter school is eligible to join. [1]
[edit] Forensics team
The Appleton East Forensics Team is a respected team throughout the state of Wisconsin and one of the top teams in the nation. The Appleton East Forensics Team has won more Wisconsin state championships than any other.[citation needed]
The team won state titles in 1992-1997, and 1999, and its highest recent accolades include its recent state championship in the Wisconsin Forensics Coaches Association Tournament of 2005, and co-championship with James Madison Memorial High School in 2006, bringing a grand total of eight state championships back to the home of the Patriots.
The team is coached by Mike Traas and Debra Weiher-Traas.
[edit] Boy's Basketball Team
The boy's basketball team reached an elite level during the mid 2000's, posting very impressive records three straight seasons. In 2005 the team had a 17-7(12-6) and later lost to Ashwaubenon to end the season, 2006 had a 18-4(15-3)and earned a #1 seed in their respective tournament before being upset by Kimberly in the 2nd round. 2007 was a year of big expectations, and earned a #1 preseason state ranking, and starting the year on fire. The team was led by 3 sensational seniors, and posted a 19-5(14-4) record. The team could not bring it all together, and had problems with injuries, resulting in loosing it's last two games of the season, and was later beat one game before the Wisconsin State Tournament by Bay Port High School, 55-49.

- The architecture of East High School centers around a three-story circular "silo." In 1992, as part of the senior class prank, the roof of the silo was painted with a large yellow "smiley face." For a time the prank was visible from 40,000ft. (see [2]).
