[edit] License tagging for Image:Qu Qiubai.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Qu Qiubai.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:08, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Scanned Images

{{helpme}}

Does a scanned image out of a historical text which is photopshopped for clarity qualify as my work - how do I license this

thanks - new to the game, getting warmed up

No, simply scanning something does not involve enough creative effort to justify ownership of the image's copyright. You'll probably need to provide a fair use tag and rationale, but I'm not sure which fair use tag would apply here. I'd leave a question about this at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, I'm sure they'll be able to give you a much better response and/or much sooner than you'll get here. Sorry I can't help you myself, but I'm sure they'll be able to point you in the right direction. Happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 04:42, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
