I have added a bit of information regarding the purpose of the composition of Xenophons Apology as well as giving precisions on his sources. DO you think it necessary to list the specialists and their work? It would lengthen the article quite considerably and without much extra interest for the non specialist. i base these affirmations on the introduction to the loeb new translation, of which I currently don't have the refs. December 10, 2005--I was not previously aware that Xenophon was away on the expedition with Cyrus the Younger (a.k.a the Anabasis) at the time of the trial of Socretes. Therefore, I question the accuracy of this information. Can anyone verify this? I suppose it's probably in the text of The Apology, but I don'thave a copy handy and it's been many, many years since I read parts of it. I always thought that the trial of Socretes was before or probably after, the Anabasis.--GestaltG
