[edit] Lawyer

Was Mabini a lawyer?--Jondel 28 June 2005 09:02 (UTC)

Well, yes, I believe he was, or at least a person educated in law. He was also appointed by Aguinaldo to be the the first head of the cabinet of the republic, and hence, the country's first prime minister. This article though has little info about what he did during his brief tenure. --Noypi380 14:35, 31 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image

Does anyone have a picture, perhaps a portrait, of Mabini? His face on the currency bill kinda looks weird. :-) --Noypi380 11:44, 5 August 2005 (UTC)

To whoever added the new pic, thanks, nice pic. :) --Noypi380 14:31, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Issue about Mabini's birthdate (July 23 or July 22)

Back in the 1970s and 1980s there was a question of when was Mabini actually born (the year was undisputed but the controversy hinged on whether Mabini was born on July 23 or July 22). Historian Teodoro Agoncillo (in an article written by Ambeth Ocampo which was reprinted in "Looking Back" a compilation of Ocampo's columns of the same name, as well as in an interview which was published in Ocampo's "Conversations with History") disputed the July 23 day of Mabini's birthday. Mabini himself was quoted as stating as his birthday was July 23. However, according to Teodoro Agoncillo, Mabini's baptismal certificate is dated July 23 and according to church records, Mabini was one-day old on the date he was baptized (Agoncillo also claimed that at that time the road from Talaga to the church was not paved and July is in the middle of the rainy season and therefore additional proof that Mabini could not have been baptized on the same day of his birth). Therefore, according to Agoncillo, if the church records (and especially Mabini's baptismal certificate) are to be believed the actual date of Mabini's birth is July 22 (1 day prior to the July 23 date of baptism).--Harvzsf 07:56, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
