These are albums that employ traditional folk styles and instrumentation, while simultaneously applying them to fatalistic lyrical themes. This is but one of many offshoots of dark folk and many albums considered apocalyptic folk are also described as Pagan folk, folk noir, Gothic folk, tribal folk, neofolk and many others. Many of these bands are equally rooted in noise music and industrial styles and are informed by these in their compositions.
