[edit] History

Apostasy was formed in 1994; its original lead singer, Stefan Peersen, died of a brain ailment in 1997, and guitarist Svenn-Aksen Henriksen took over lead vocals.[1] They went through several further lineup changes and recorded three demos.

By 200 the lineup consisted of Håkan Björklund and Mattias Edin of Kramfors, Sweden. They recruited Mattias' brother Fredric Edin on vocals and bass, and Lars Engström on guitar.

In January 2002 the band recorded their first demo, titled "Marchosias", in Studio Underground in Västerås, Sweden.

Later that year, Andreas Edin (Bass) and Dennis Bobzien (Keyboards) joined the band, shortly after the departure of Engström. As a replacement for Lars the band found Henrik Johansson. The now six-piece band received an offer for a record deal from Black Mark Records. Shortly before recording their first album, Andreas Edin left the band and was replaced by Leif Högberg. The band's debut Cell 666 was recorded summer 2003.

In 2005, Apostasy released their second album Devilution. On March 9th, 2005, shortly before the release of Devilution, guitarist Johansson was found murdered, having been stabbed to death by his girlfriend.[2].
