Apithonor is the call-name or handle used by a quirky female with a flare for editing who is also a member of the SCA or Society_for_Creative_Anachronism under the name of Cristina inghean Ruairc.

The name 'apithonor' comes from SCA heraldry. When divided, the blazon is: a pithon Or. This, in the terms of SCA blazons would be a golden, winged serpent.

In normal heraldry - that of most historians and heraldic councils - the term 'pithon' or 'python' has no difference and are both considered blazons of a winged serpent.
