Ape Escape Academy 2 (also known as Pipo Saru Academia 2: Aiai Sarugee Janken Battle! in Japan and Ape Academy 2 in Europe) is the sequel to the PlayStation Portable party game Ape Escape Academy.
Similar to its predecessor, Ape Escape Academy 2 is a collection of mini-games which can either be played in single player or multiplayer mode. Most of the mini-games borrow from elements of Ape Escape 3.
The game has already been released in Japan, Europe and Australia; there are no plans as of yet to release the game in North America.
Plot
- Specter invented a new card game which began to be very popular among humans and pipo monkeys, using his new card game to dominate the world. At the same time, he sets up a card battle contest for monkeys to complete in. The prize for winning the contest is the ultra-powerful platinum Specter card and a year supply of bananas.
1 Player Mode
- The 1 Player Mode is more different from the 1 player mode in the prequel. You first start off with 20 cards, and you go to each island to complete against other monkeys in different minigames. It takes a number of battles in order to complete against the bosses. The bosses in the game are the Freaky Monkey Five, starting Blue Monkey all the way to Specter. The Pipotron Brothers sometimes come up and want to battle you. Once you contract them, you can't escape from the battle. If you lose a battle to a monkey, you lose Specter coins. If you win against monkeys in card battles, you earn both the card and Specter coins.
Features
- Compare to the prequel: Ape Academy, Ape Escape Academy 2 has more features than the first. Instead of having to choose which colour monkey pants, you get to choose what costume you want, depending on what card you have. In addition, you get to name your monkey, edit its winning, losing and greeting comments for the card battles. If you want to win different costumes, you need to either buy or win more cards. There are three types of each card: Paper, rock and scissors. There are hidden shops around the islands in 1 player mode where you can buy cards that features the Ape Escape characters.
