[edit] Fictional character biography
The ape originally known as Xina was the product of an enhancement of simian intelligence. When her trainer was slain, she turned to crime and eventually joined the Institute of Evil, becoming known as Ape-X.
When the Institute was defeated by the Squadron Supreme, Ape-X was behavior-modified and elected to full membership in the Squadron and fell in love with Tom Thumb. She later suffered from a psychotic withdrawal from reality, due to the behavior modification process. During a battle alongside the Squadron, Ape-X's mind was destroyed[1] because of two conflicting behaviour orders, where Ape-X lapsed into a coma[2]
[edit] Powers and abilities
Ape-X has human genius-level intelligence, and great mechanical aptitude. Ape-X’s legs and lower torso have been amputated, necessitating the use of her mobile platform for vehicular transportation.
[edit] Notes
Ape-X is analogous to the DC comics character Gorilla Grodd.[citation needed]
