Aous Shakra

Aous Shakra (also Aboushakra, Aous Chakra) (April 22, 1908 - April 1, 1992) was a very influential existential philosopher and peace-advocating politician. His most notable writings included: "What? When? How?" in 1974, and "A Short History from Rex to Dex" in 1952. He was the Palestinian ambassador to the U.N. in late 1991, 6 months before passing away.
In his younger days, Shakra advocated that by smoking marijuana or elevating oneself from a normal state of mind, one is capable achieving the idea of "Existence precedes essence". In 1935, he immigrated to Canada with his family where he graduated with a Bachelors in Philosophy, and then moved on to the United States to get his Phd in Law and International Relations from Harvard University. He then taught there till 1965 before returning back to the Middle East.
