[edit] 50 in 50
Great work in finding the missing stats on the 50 in 50 article. Masterhatch 03:53, 4 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] NHL Entry Drafts
I must say that you are doing some excellent work with the NHL drafts. I had thought about doing the drafts a long time ago, but i decided to do the seasons instead. Masterhatch 05:51, 15 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
Thanks for catching a couple of typos I made on the Canada at the Winter Olympics page. Andrwsc 01:03, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cree font
Thanks for the clarification on the font in the Saskatoon article. I think what happened is I switched browsers from Internet Explorer to Firefox over the weekend and Firefox displays unknown fonts differently. The question marks looked like vandalism. There should be a tag or something on these articles indicating what font is needed and where to get it, etc. Thanks again! 23skidoo 18:33, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Correct" English
If you think it's "correct" English to write Jesse Niinimäki and Joni Pitkänen with the accents removed, why did you not move Jérémy Châtelain to Jeremy Chatelain when you edited it? Does "correct" English only apply to Finns, or does it only apply to ice hockey players? Where can I see a Wikipedia Manual Of Style that says to "Englishise" some foreign names, but not others? JIP | Talk 05:47, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- I feel there's a distinct difference in having diacritics in the titles and the body. I'm not so concerned with the titles, but I feel the anglicisation of names should apply to all article text for the purposes of utility - If I'm using my browser's search function (i.e. ctrl-f) to find instances of a name in an article (something rather likely to happen on an article such as a draft listing), diacritics get in my way because they're cumbersome to type on an English keyboard. And I think it's a good idea to not get in the way of English-typing people finding things on an English encyclopedia. And yes, whether you like it or not, it is correct in English. Sure, it isn't in Finnish, but that's irrelevant on en.wikipedia.org.
- Besides, I don't have time to go around anglicising every article I come across - I only made the edit to the Chatelain article because I happened to notice it in an unquestionably wrong place in a category listing.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:EC TheDevilYouKnow Canada.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:EC TheDevilYouKnow Canada.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:10, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter Dear Aottley! You are receiving this newsletter because you have signed up as a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey. The purpose of this newsletter is to update on the goings on of the project, as there have been major changes, and a lot of new recognized content in the past few weeks. Article Improvement By Maxim Upon some discussion on the WikiProject talk page, the Article Improvement Drive page was revamped by Krm500 and Maxim. It was renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Article Improvement, and it includes two section. The first section is called articles in dire need of improvement. It list articles, usually important, that are in very poor shape. The second section is called requested help. Users list an article they request help improving a certain article, which will facilitate collaboration, which is the aim of any WikiProject. There is one article currently listed there, Henrik Lundqvist, here. The goal is to at least get it to Good article status. edit
Diacritics By Maxim In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt. edit
Task forces By Maxim This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES. This task force was initiated by Bsroiaadn. Its goal is to improve New Jersey Devils to Featured Topic status. Although it currently meets the required article count, the task force wishes to improve it further. Its area of coverage is very similar to the Sweden Ice Hockey task force. Its members are Bsroiaadn, JHMM13, FutureNJGov, Sportskido8, Michael Greiner, JRWalko, and Soxrock. edit

Did You Know? By Maxim
...that Wally Tatomir, head equipment manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, holds four patents on ice hockey-related equipment?
...that ice hockey player Mark Major attained 355 penalty minutes during the 1997-98 AHL season for the Portland Pirates, where he averaged 4.5 penalty minutes a game and still holds the club record?
...that Garth Butcher was a member of Canada's first-ever gold medal team at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships before becoming a pest and setting team records for penalty minutes in the National Hockey League?
..that the AMP NHL Winter Classic is scheduled to be the first regular-season outdoor National Hockey League game in the United States? edit
Featured Topic Drive By Maxim Started by User:Scorpion0422, the aim of this drive is to make NHL awards a featured topic. A featured topic is basically a set of very high quality articles (good articles and featured articles/lists). In this case, the topic is NHL awards. Many users have helped, including Scorpion0422, Resolute, Serte, Hasek is the best, Maxim, Croat Canuck, Spike Wilbury, FutureNJGov, and T Rex/Dinosaur puppy. The progress has been very good; there are 12 featured lists promoted, and 2 good articles:
Check the project page if you are interested in helping out. Although it's closer to being done than not, there's still work to be done. The next topic that might be tackled is Stanley Cup, but this remains purely speculative and in discussion. |

WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter Dear Aottley! You are receiving as you are a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey There's been many more new things going on at WP:HOCKEY, and I think this will help you to stay informed. Since the last newsletter sent out in October, there have been many new changes. I'm hoping to make this newsletter a bit more regular; Kaiser matias and Skudrafan1 asked for a new issue a week ago, but sadly, I've been a bit lazy and committed to other things hence this other delay. --Maxim(talk) edit

Task forces By Maxim There was a new taskforce created within the WikiProject to deal with topics related to the Boston Bruins. It was originally founded as a separate WikiProject, but was quickly turned into a taskforce within WikiProject Ice Hockey. The list of participants is located here. Located at WP:BRUINS, the taskforce's goals are to make Boston Bruins and Bobby Orr featured articles. Good luck! edit
New Administrators By Maxim
A previously admin-only feature has been made available for all users. The rollback feature allows a user to quickly revert vandalism with one click. If you wish to have rollback, contact an active admin or post a request to WP:RFR. edit
Featured Topic Drive By Maxim The original featured topic drive, initiated by Scorpion0422, has concluded succesfully. National Hockey League awards is now a featured topic, with 24 articles in total. Of them, 20 are featured lists, one is a featured article, and the other three are trophy articles that were too short to become featured lists. Eight users signed up to help out, shown here. The next Featured Topic hasn't been decided upon, and the ideas and organization for it fell apart. If you have any ideas, don't hesitate to share them at WT:HOCKEY. edit
