This film festival began in Palmerston North, New Zealand in 2005. The 2006 festival has expanded to four nights and runs films ranging from cartoon shorts to features. Palmerston North is a city of 70,000 people two hours north of Wellington and home of Massey University. Aotearoa (in the festival's) title is the Maori word for New Zealand and means, 'the land of the long white cloud.'
