Aoife Hoey

Aoife Hoey (born September 6, 1983[1]) is an Irish bobsledder who has competed since 2004.[2] She finished 22nd out of 23 in the two-woman event at the 2005 FIBT World Championships in Calgary.[3]

[edit] Bobsleigh career

Aoife and her older sister, Siobhán, received partial funding from the Olympic Council of Ireland funding, but no commercial sponsorship.[4] They didn't qualify for the 2006 Winter Olympics.[5]

For the 2007-08 bobsleigh season, Hoey qualified to compete in the European Bobsleigh Cup.[6] She competed in the first two events of the season, finishing fifth at Igls on November 22, 2007 [7] and 14th at Königssee on November 29, 2007.[8]

In 2005 she was Irish national outdoor champion in the triple jump jumping a wind assisted 11.73 metres.[9] She also works for the Athletics Association of Ireland as an administrative assistant.[10]
