[edit] New template

Propose replacing current {{ANZChampionshipTeams}} template (below)

Teams in the ANZ Championship
Adelaide Thunderbirds | Canterbury Flames | Central Pulse | Melbourne Vixens | New South Wales Swifts | Northern Mystics | Queensland Firebirds | Southern Steel | Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic | West Coast Fever

with a new all-encompassing template (possibly named {{ANZChampionship}}):

If there are no serious objections, I'd like to replace the current template maybe within a week or two. Feel free to leave comments here. Cheers. – Liveste (talk) 12:27, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Seconded - great work Gialloneri (talk) 16:55, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Adelaide-thunderbirds.gif

Image:Adelaide-thunderbirds.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

  • None of the logos have fair-use rationales for use in this article, so I've removed them. The logos can be readded once a fair-use rationale for this article is added to each image file page, but please make sure that the use of the logos in this article meets all WP:NFCC criteria before adding them. Cheers. – Liveste (talk) 02:18, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sponsored name

Other articles are known as (for example) Stadium Australia, Docklands Stadium and A-League as opposed to ANZ Stadium, Telstra Dome and Hyundai A-League (which are redirects). Wouldn't it make sense to use the non-sponsored name for this one as well? -- Chuq (talk) 01:40, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

If that is the norm then yes I guess

--Matt (talk) 01:47, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

To my knowledge, ANZ Championship is still the most widely used name. The non-sponsored alternative would be Tasman Trophy, but it was only meant to be a provisional name. However, if significant current use (i.e., after 9 October 2007) can be demonstrated, then moving the article there would still satisfy WP:COMMONNAME.
Regarding opposition to corporate names in article titles, while it has been discussed for articles on Australian stadiums, this has not occurred for articles on New Zealand stadiums (e.g., Westpac Stadium, AMI Stadium). Netball competitions such as the Commonwealth Bank Trophy and the National Bank Cup also retain their corporate names. Wider discussion and consensus is probably needed.
All in all, I think that a page move should wait until either "Tasman Trophy" is demonstrated to be in significant current use, or until a wider discussion of corporate naming reaches consensus. Cheers. Liveste (talkedits) 02:43, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Franchise Map

I created a basic franchise map for ANZ Championship Season 2008 to replace the previous version, which I felt was of poor quality. It's probably more of a temporary thing as I think a greater franchise area map such as the Super 14 examples (such as [[Image:220px-HurricanesTerritory.PNG]] would probably serve better than a map pointing to the major franchise bases, but if someone wants to use the current version feel free to do so - it is as follows:
