Anyone Who Had a Heart, singer Dionne Warwick's second studio album with Scepter Records, was recorded and released in 1963. The album was recorded at Bell Sound Studios in New York City and was produced in full by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. The LP was issued as Number 517 in the Scepter catalog.
Unlike her previous album, this LP was issued with absolutely no photograph of the singer whatsoever. The album's cover was in pink, with the title encapsulated in a heart.
The title song was released as a single in 1963 and became her first top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The song's lyrics describe the pain felt by a singer as she continues to love the person to whom she sings, but is continually hurt by that person.
Other songs covered on the album were "Don't Make Me Over", Warwick's debut single "Shall I Tell Her?", "Mr. Heartbreak", and "Any Old Time Of The Day", which was slated to be the follow-up single to the title song. However, when famed DJ Murray The K gave radio listeners which side of the single was to be a hit, the listeners picked the winner: "Walk On By", recorded at the same December 1963 session in New York that yielded "Anyone Who Had a Heart".
