Anvar Saidenov

Anvar Saidenov (Kazakh: Әнуар Ғалимоллаұлы Сәйденов, b. September 19, 1960) is the current chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
Saidenov was born in Moscow and attended Moscow State University, being graduated in 1982. From 1993-1996 he worked at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London, during which time he also earned an MS in Economics and Finance at the University of London. He then returned to Kazakhstan, where from 1996-1998 he served as the deputy chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan. From 1998-2000 he held various economic posts throughout the country, including a turn as Vice-Minister of Finance.
From 2000-2002 Saidenov served as the chairman of Halyk Bank. In 2002 he returned to the national National Bank to again serve as deputy chairman, and was appointed as chairman in 2004.
