Talk:Anuradha Sriram

[edit] Proposed Deletion
Anuradha Sriram is a prominent playback singer who has sung innumerable classics in Indian languages. I've provided adequate references and sources. Placing a deletion tag here is just like placing one on Mozart regarding him of being a "culture-specific" artist. I advice the person who has placed it to remove it to immediate effect. Otherwise, it shall be regarded as a blatant display of Eurocentrism. --
[edit] Significance?
Ok, I'll admit, maybe I was quick in tagging this article, but I still fail to see the significance. I just think that maybe this article would be better suited in a Wiki with another language, as all of her films and songs, etc... are seemingly restricted to the Asian continent. That is what I meant by "culture-specific", and I definitely did not intend it to sound ethnocentric. Manderson198 (sprech) 17:22, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

- Firstly, there is no rule in Wiki which states that culture-specific articles should not be permitted in the English Wikipedia.
- Secondly, there are many Bollywood stars who havent appeared in Hollywood films. Take the example of Kishore Kumar. Yet their contributions to Indian cinema have been immense. We have a project 'Wikipedia Indian Films' to maintain such articles. This is simply not a reason good enuf for the article to be deleted. -- 14:44, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
