[edit] Uses in Mythology

In Hindu mythology, brotherhood is highly important and respected. A good example of the use of Anuj is in the Ramayana. Lord Rama's brothers—Lakshmana, Bharat, and Shatrughna—are addressed as RamAnuj (meaning, "younger brother of Ram"). Similar references are also made in the Mahabharata's address of the five Pandav brothers.
