Anu Haasan

Anu Haasan (Tamil: அனு ஹாசன்) Tamil movie actress and TV anchor. Her movie debut was in the critically acclaimed film Indira (1996). She currently hosts the celebrity talk show Koffee with Anu on the Tamil channel Vijay.

Anu is the daughter of the lawyer cum producer Chandrahaasan (one of the producers of Rajkamal films). Chandrahaasan is the son of an orthodox Srinivasa Iyengar (affluent landowner of Ramanathapuram (Ramnad) district, Madras. He worked for the British as a lawyer who practiced in the Madras High Court in the early 1890). Anu was born on September 11, [[1970]most possible probably].

Anu has earned a degree in MSc and Management Degree from BITS Pilani, she is a martial arts student (kaLari art; has trained in Chiramam, Silambam, Kurunthadi and Kaipoor) and also a proficient basketball player who has represented the Trichy district. Her love for music was shown as a jazz singer when she performed at the US consulate in Kolkata and it is told that in BITSians who were on campus between 1988 and 1993 remember Anu Hasan in some of the EDC productions of the day including Fiddler on the Roof and Spartacus.

She is the niece of the versatile actor Tamil actor Kamal Hassan and cousin of Suhasini.

Anu won the Best Supporting Actress award for her TV role in Anbulla Snehgidhiye, the television serial was adapted/deduced from Chitra Banerjee's award winning novel Sister of my heart. She has lent her voice (dubbing) for most of the non Tamil speaking heroines.

Anu Hasan has replaced RJ Suchitra in the chat show Koffee with Suchi, which will now be called Koffee with Anu (Vijay TV, Saturday, 9 p.m.).
