[edit] Bengal Film Journalists' Association - Best Actor Award
Could you or some other editor from WP:Bengal please fill in the missing data in this article. This article has been in the WP:Intensive Care Unit since 17 October 2007. Kathleen.wright5 05:54, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] West Bengal map error
Hi, I'd like to draw your attention to the West Bengal map. The boudaries of districts Bankura and Bardhaman are grossly wrong. The whole Asansol sub division has gone into Bankura. Can you change them and load a newer version? You can refer to the Bardhaman district map for this.Crackjack (talk) 22:24, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bangladesh portal
Hi, I'd like to draw your attention to Bangladesh portal. I have tried to address the concerns in earlier peer review and checked the portal against Featured portal criteria. Based on this I think it is proper time to push for Featured Portal status for Bangladesh Portal, which will be an important milestone for WikiProject Bangladesh. But to achieve this I need help from you. Please participate in the on-going discussion on the talk page and give me your valuable inputs.-Arman Aziz 03:43, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks
Thanks for your kind words. There is hardly anybody else working seriously on West Bengal related topics. You had started so well. Now, that you are back, it will take some warming up for you to return to your old form. My literature links are weak and yours were so good. Even in biographies, you did so well. You have started again with a DYK, but I am sure that there would be many many more from you. Regards. P.K.Niyogi 16:32, 9 August 2007 (UTC) ... Now, thanks for the medal. Regards. - P.K.Niyogi 02:48, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Hi there
Thanks! I'd be happy to look over anything you think needs another pair of eyes. I'll have a look at the Wiki section, more publications are always welcome. Tim Vickers 15:57, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] {{INA stub}}
Hi Antorjal, wonder if you can help. I created a stub for articles to with Azad Hind and Indian National Army, and it has just been nominated deletion on what I thought were more to with MoS grounds rather than substance and importance of the content. I don't know wether you know anything about this at all, but if you do (or if you have any comments), could you please have a look here. Cheers.Rueben lys 12:19, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Independence Day
Thanks for your good wishes. I also wish you all the best. - P.K.Niyogi 02:24, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

- It is good that you liked the article on Janbazar. I think I shall be able to do a few more articles on Kolkata neighbourhoods. There is another Indian editor, who is contributing enormously - Amarrg. It is a matter of time that he overtakes me in DYKs. So far, he has been really consistent. I am not well up on literature. I have not read that book. - P.K.Niyogi 05:04, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Detailed histories needed
I today saw Sannyasi Rebellion created by you. Thank you for it. The impact and scale of Sannyasi Rebellion is deliberately underestimated by British historians. Total number of casualties, though uncertain, was much more. Bengal Famine of 1769-71 needs more space, because it was the immediate cause of Sannyasi Rebellion.
I recently expanded Bengali Brahmins to more than double its size, but I feel some points are dubious. Unfortunately, other editors are not interested in it at present. I had more data on Maithil Brahmin which I am still working on. Similar material of Bengali, Utkala and Shakadvipi (recently created by me) brahmins is lacking. I have similar plans for other branches. Unfortunately, non-brahmanical castes have not preserved such data, excepting the aristocracy. -Vinay_Jha 13:48, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Unspecified source for Image:3116.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:3116.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:20, 16 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Phil Sandifer 04:20, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:3116.gif
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:3116.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Phil Sandifer 04:20, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Antor. We are going to start DYK section in Bengali Wikipedia. If we want to initiate DYK medals there what could we do. Can we use the same medals which are used in english wikipedia. If so how? If not so, what can we do? Help me please with this. Regards --Tarif from Bangladesh 05:46, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Narayan_Debnath.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Narayan_Debnath.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 00:19, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ideas
Well an obvious initial idea is that you could begin including links to the relevant Wikipedia articles in the discussion pages at ACSCB, as the BBC has begun to do with its radio programs (link). We could then back-link from the talk page with a template that says something along the lines of "New research at ACS relevant to this article." Tim Vickers 14:50, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- One place to highlight it would be Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Newsroom/Suggestions, you could also see if the PodCast WikipediaWeekly Wikipedia talk:WikiProject WikipediaWeekly would be interested. Tim Vickers 19:33, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Matirmoina.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Matirmoina.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:33, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Image:Bijon bhattacharya.jpg
A tag has been placed on Image:Bijon bhattacharya.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Sdrtirs (talk) 02:23, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
